I was trained as a photographer at the North West Evening Mail, based at Barrow in Furness and gained the National Council for the Training of Journalists Certificate in Photography at age 19, one of the youngest in the country to do so at the time. As a press photographer I covered a multitude of events from Royal visits to fashion shows and with this broad experience have learned to put my subjects at ease whilst being speedy and precise. I photographed my first wedding in the late seventies and have since covered many hundreds of these events. My other specialities are family portraiture and photography for many local and national businesses.Having worked  freelance for many years I started my own full-time photography business in 1989. During this time I have won several prizes from the Guild of Wedding Photographers and have won a merit award in the National Fuji film wedding and portrait awards. With 25 years in professional photography I feel I have accumulated a wealth of experience which many photographers and certainly part-timers do not have. I have provided photographs for several books and have had work published in the Daily Telegraph , Guardian and on BBC television.
